Four sims closing

After discussions with Sim Leaders, the following games are closing down:

• Elder Scrolls: Giants of Shadows Past
• Forgotten Realms 
• Hunger Games: JabberJay
• CANIS Pacifica

This means that the current Phoenix sim count is 28, although a number of other sims are expected to close in the near future due to lack of activity.

RavenSkycatcher resumes GM responsibilites for 'The Dark Cometh'

After six months away, the creator of one of our most active and popular sims, RavenSkycatcher, has returned to Phoenix Roleplaying. He has agreed to return as GM of the game and hopefully will help it return to its record-breaking activity levels.

Phoenix Roleplaying wins four awards at Tournament of Simulations 2013

Phoenix Roleplaying has won four awards at the prestigious Tournament of Simulations, the results of which were announced today, its second year of success in the prestigious contest, which was last year called the Simulations Cup.

The first victory went to The Dark Cometh and CANIS UK, which collectively won the prize for Best Adventure/Fantasy Sim; this was not awarded last year.

Another new award was in fact tied - Best Dr. Who Sim was collectively shared between AJJE Games' Doctor Who sim and our own The Triple First.

For the second year in a row, Phoenix won Best Firefly Sim; this year's winner was The Elemental with previous winner Kvant not entered by its SL this year by personal choice.

Finally, Fighter Ops, which won the Excellence in Creativity award last year (Excellence awards were not given out this time) won its second award for Best Military Sim.

There was however disappointment in Best Star Wars Sim: this award, won last year by The West Star, went to Star Wars: Shadow Squadron at Federation Sim Fleet.

Co-chair Chas Hammer said, "It was a pleasure to review Phoenix Roleplaying for this year's ToS.  You offer a diversity of genres that I do not believe is matched anywhere else, and the quality of your games is reflected in those who won in this years ToS".

A warm congratulations to all the winning sims and players, Phoenix or otherwise.

Two new Sim Leader appointments - one for a new sim

After much discussion, SoapyMac has replaced Jason Andersen as Sim Leader of Zombies and will now proceed in a major change of that sim.

In addition, we have now gone back up to 31 sims at Phoenix, with RavenSkycatcher's third sim in the highly successful supers series The Dark Cometh being launched - CANIS Pacifica.

The Dark Goeth to Britain

Fresh of the unprecedented (for Phoenix at any rate) success of The Dark Cometh, RavenSkycatcher has launched a spinoff to his popular sim, set in the UK.

TDC: CANIS UK focusses on the British branch of the secret organisation, set in the ancient and historic city of York.

The Dark Cometh smashes its own record

RavenSkycatcher's sim, The Dark Cometh, last month clocked a SSR of 238.5, which is the second all-time Phoenix record it has set in two months.

When I calculated the figure, I was astonished... it's clear that we have a seriously good sim here.

The Dark Cameth, Saweth and Conquerth

In a truly amazing second month, our superhero sim The Dark Cometh has just blown up the record books. With 931 posts by 8 players, the sim clocked an unprecedented Sim Strength Ranking of 116.38; the highest recorded for any sim in Phoenix's three year history. No other RP on our site has come close, or even exceeded the 50 mark - the previous record holder (I believe) is AW75.

RavenSkycatcher is looking for ideas for his superhero sim, be it an NPC, an item of power or a supervillain.

A new category and two new sims for Phoenix

After discussion among our members, we have created a new category to showcase the newest sims on our site and also those that we consider worthy of special prominence.

This category includes our 2012 Sim of the Year Greenleaf Skyplex, but also our two newest sims.

The first is The Dark Cometh, an original sim created by one of our newest players, RavenSkycatcher. This near future sim is a superhero one and we hope it flies high without getting its cape sucked into a passing jet.

We are also returning to the world of Star Trek with one of two planned sims in this category, USS Phoenix by Krista Bäckman. We also wish a long and safe voyage for that sim.
