Six sims close down after founding members leave site

Two of Phoenix's founding members, husband and wife Ash and Deborah Leighton Plom, have retired from the site due to lack of available time. As a result, due to no-one having volunteered to take over the job of running the sims, the following games have closed down:

• Cydonia
• Vermillion City
• Stargate: Beta Site
• Middle Earth
• Invisec
• Accipiter

It is entirely fair to say that their departure leaves a big hole in the site and will be difficult to fill, but Phoenix will go on.

This writer wishes to sincerely thank Ash and Deb for their six years here (and before that in AJJE), wishing them all the best for their future.

USS Athena and Odyssey closed

Due to a lack of activity, the Star Trek sim USS Athena has been closed.

In addition, the departure of Mischa Brendel from the site has also led to the decision to close Odyssey, a Firefly sim that has been running since 2010.

Dreamcatchers goes inactive

Due to a lack of players, Giorgio has closed down his Dreamcatchers sim. If you wish to know how it ended, please PM him.

Four sims closing

After discussions with Sim Leaders, the following games are closing down:

• Elder Scrolls: Giants of Shadows Past
• Forgotten Realms 
• Hunger Games: JabberJay
• CANIS Pacifica

This means that the current Phoenix sim count is 28, although a number of other sims are expected to close in the near future due to lack of activity.

Mach Idol closed

Mach Idol has been archived at the request of its sim leader.

World of Darkness placed inactive, Covert-81 opened

The horror sim World of Darkness has been closed due to inactivity; there had been no posts since 25 February.

However, 1980s set spy sim Covert-81 has been opened, or rather re-opened; the sim having originally run on the PARS service from 2009 to 2010. It is currently looking for players and anticipates starting play in a couple of weeks.

Pacific Rim de-activated

By the decision of its GM, Pacific Rim: The Shatterdome will be closed down due to lack of player interest.

'Umbra' mothballed

Due to the departure from site of its Sim Leader Jason Andersen, the pirate-themed Firefly sim Umbra has been placed on the inactive list.

'The Elemental' goes inactive until 2015

Due to the long-term LOA of its Sim Leader, Amanda Bond, the award winning Firefly sim The Elemental has now been set as inactive and will remain so until 2015.

Robert Longtin leaves Phoenix and other news

For personal reasons, Robert 'RLongtin' Longtin has left the site with immediate effect. This creates a vacancy in the Elections and Voting Coordinator position and in the two sims that he runs - D'ni and The Matrix.

In addition, following his LOA, Ash Leighton Plom has closed The Triple Zero and transferred the leadership of The West Star to Nick Buchanan, while Kevin 'Zuzutoo' Diamond will run Forgotten Realms.

The Zodiac Mercenaries takes some leave

Our mecha sim The Zodiac Mercenaries has gone on a hopefully temporary hiatus - it has been moved to the Closed Sims area.

An Baile Ur closes

Due to a consistent lack of activity, Robert Longtin has decided to close the An Baile Ur sim, the non-traditional Irish-themed Firefly sim set in 2300.

There is a possibility that it may be revived in the future.

Mass Effect sim mothballed

Due to a lack of activity, not to mention the lack of a GM, Jason Andersen has chosen to close his Mass Effect sim until further notice.

Saunders is terminated

Our Saunders: Corporate Espionage sim has been closed due to having insufficient membership to continue.

AW75 closes - but Osprey isn't done

Due to RL issues on the GM's part, we have sadly had to shut the extremely well performing air combat sim AW75.

However, Osprey has informed us that he is working on another sim due in April, which I am sure that we all look forward to.

One sim closes, another one opens

One of our remaining two Stargate sims, SGB-HQ, has closed down, due to a long-standing lack of activity and with the agreement of its now former Sim Leader.

However, we have also opened a new sim - Saunders Inc. - Corporate Espionage. This is a gritty modern sim, styled after shows like Person of Interest and Burn Notice, as well as the latest James Bond films starring Daniel Craig.

End of Peace mothballed

Due to low activity, especially from its own Sim Leader, End of Peace is closed until further notice.

USS Repulse closes

Our final remaining Star Trek sim, USS Repulse has officially closed its doors. Hopefully, we will have an ST sim again at some point.

Wheel of Time goes inactive

Due to a lack of interest, Wheel of Time has been closed until further notice.

The Academy closes

Regretfully, we've had our first Firefly sim close due to lack of activity. The Academy is now inactive. Anyone wishing to revive it, please contact Kevin "Zuzutoo" Diamond first.
