2016 GC and TC election results

Elections and Voting Coordinator Zuzutoo announced the results on Monday and has given me permission to quote his post in full:

Voting has officially closed for the 2016 election for General Coordinator and Technical Coordinator of Phoenix Roleplaying. Many thanks to everyone that took the time to participate in club governance.
As a whole not a bad turn out. 18 members voted, equalling 43% of the eligible list of members (members who have logged in and posted more than once in the last year). Of that group 14 voted in the fist 48 hours, and 4 voted in the last 48 hours. A fairly consistent pattern with past elections. Oh, you want results... not statistics. Fine.
The office of Technical Coordinator, winning 94% of the vote,  goes to Euan Reid. Congratulations sir!
Now on to the big show, the competition for General Coordinator was very close. In Third Place with 22% of the vote was Dale "Soapymac" Brennan. The position of Contender with 35% of the votes goes to Rebecca "Ironette" Forte. Which means the position of General Coordinator for  2016, remains in the hands of the reigning Khalessi, Misty Diamond, holding 42% of the tabulated votes. Congratulations to all on a robust competition. Long live the Queen... or something like that.

Ironette fills the previously vacant role of Contender, but otherwise there is no change in Phoenix's top management.

Acquistion of AJJE and Ownership Policy passes

Voting has been completed. Thank you everyone for your participation with these important propositions. It should be noted that we had a 57% turn out for eligible members in this vote. That amounted to 25 out of 44. The last general election we held had only 16 participants. Your input is invaluable as we strive to keep this democratically run site meaningful and responsive to our membership. On to the results....

  • Shall Phoenix Roleplaying acquire AJJE Games as proposed? Yes 72%, No 28%. The measure is passed.
  • Shall Member Policy X: Sim Ownership be added to the official rules? Yes 96%, No 2%. The measure is passed.

I will now hand these proposals off to Misty for proper implementation. Thank you again everyone.

-Kevin Diamond, Election and Voting Coordinator.

Misty Wilson wins General Coordinator Election

The General Coordinator election has now been completed, with acting Coordinator Misty Wilson winning with 53% of the vote; Dale "SoapyMac" Brennan narrowly beating Giorgio "ksabers" Borgo to second place (24% to 22%) and thus gaining the title of Contender. 15 out of a possible 32 eligible members cast their vote in this unplanned election caused by the AWOL of Jason Andersen.

The same ballot also saw votes on creating the position of Phoenix Treasurer and also changing the wording of Member Policy 2 regarding canon characters appearing in a sim. These both comfortably passed with over 80% of the vote each.

Two decisions in Feb 2011 referendum declared null and void

Due to the closeness of the result, Robert Longtin has ordered a re-vote on the following two items:

"Every Coordinator is required to select a deputy prior to the voting period of an election."
"Coordinators are required to announce their deputies during the campaigning period, prior to the voting period of any Election in which they are running for office."

They will not now apply for the March 2011 elections.

February 2011 Referendum Results

The February referendum results have been announced.

The key decisions taken were:
  • The creation of Deputy Coordinator positions in Phoenix Roleplaying.
  • Sim Leaders being allowed to set their own AWOL policies.
  • A clarification of the issue created last month over canon characters; regular players of a sim may not use canon characters, although Sim Leaders can.
With our second elections imminent, the requirement to chose "running mates" for Coordinator candidates will add an interesting extra dimension to the contest.

Election Voting open

Members who have been active in the past two weeks have been sent emails inviting them to vote in the first General Election in Phoenix Roleplaying (these may have gone into your spam, so it's best to check there too). A link to the off-site Voting Booth was placed on Phoenix, but has now been removed due to security breaches, which have now been dealt with; Election Coordinator Robert Longtin plans to move to our own system in due course.

If you currently inactive, you can contact Robert Longtin to be registered as a voter.

Voting is open until 23:59 Eastern Standard Time on 7 December (04:59 GMT on 8 December) and the results will be announced the next day.

As well as electing the three key positions, you can also vote on how long terms should be and how you would not wish to be informed of elections and resolutions.

Election Season

Nominations have been pouring in for our first elections; a dozen players have been nominated for three elected positions:

  • General Coordinator (with the second place candidate becoming the Contender to the General Coordinator, a sort of Leader of the Opposition))
  • Technical Coordinator
  • Election Coordinator
Nominations can be accepted up until 15 November, but campaigning will begin on Monday 8 November.

It already looks like it will be a real contest for General Coordinator.
